“As alleged, Carmen Lopez’s life was brutally taken by her ex-boyfriend in a horrific act of intimate-partner violence,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Ambushed after a night out with friends, Ms. Lopez was left to die alone on the floor in her own apartment building. My heart is with Ms. Lopez’s loved ones as they grieve her immense loss.
“As alleged, Ramny Lopez assaulted two innocent children in an unprovoked, broad-daylight attack. One of these children was just two years old and sitting in a stroller as her family explored New York City while on vacation,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Parents shouldn’t have to fear for the safety of their children when walking through Manhattan. We will continue to collaborate with our law enforcement partners to make our streets safe for tourists and residents of all ages.”
“Alberto Jordan was convicted by a jury of his peers on all counts for violently attacking an Allied Security worker, who was just doing his job in a busy subway station,” said District Attorney Bragg. “The defendant had several opportunities to comply with the worker’s requests to leave the station peacefully, but instead, reacted with violence. Security personnel working in our stations alongside MTA employees are crucial to ensuring our transit system keeps running safely and orderly, and we will hold those accountable who harm them.”
“This alleged shooting occurred in the middle of a busy intersection and threatened the safety of countless bystanders,” said District Attorney Bragg. “It is incredibly fortunate that additional people were not injured, and I wish the victim a full recovery from her injuries.”
“Rodney Johnson viciously and repeatedly stabbed his own sister in a deadly act of violence in their home,” said District Attorney Bragg. “The defendant seized the opportunity to attack his sister at one of her most vulnerable moments and ultimately killed her in front of their mother. No family should ever have to experience this type of horrific and traumatic conduct. I sincerely hope that Shayla Johnson’s family and loved ones can heal and recover from this devastating tragedy.”
