“These pieces sat in apartments, storage units and museums when they should have been in Lebanon. As we have demonstrated time and time again, there is no trafficking scheme or network too complex for our Office. Stolen antiquities that come through Manhattan will be repatriated to their home country,” said District Attorney Bragg.
In March 2021, construction workers at the midtown Virgin Hotel reported missing paychecks and wage theft. They were employees of Ampak Electrical Services and had been performing electrical work at the hotel.
“Tyreke Colon threatened the safety of our neighborhoods by bringing dangerous firearms into the City up the iron pipeline,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Thankfully, the work of the detectives and prosecutors in this investigation prevented these guns from falling into the wrong hands. Our message is simple: if you illegally sell guns in Manhattan, there will be serious consequences.”
A New York lawyer accused of stealing more than $1.2 million from his law firm to spend on a $40,000 diamond-encrusted Cartier watch, a $57,000 diamond ring and other purchases pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Manhattan prosecutors said.
“As an attorney, Arthur Cohen knew full well that he was committing crimes when he stole from his own firm and lied in court documents in an attempt to avoid responsibility for the theft,” said District Attorney Bragg. “That attempt was unsuccessful, and today, he took accountability for his actions. He will now face a prison sentence commensurate with the breadth of his crimes.”
