An employee at a Harlem after-school program was indicted Tuesday on multiple charges of child sexual abuse, prosecutors announced.
The woman who stabbed an Upper East Side juice bar worker multiple times will spend the next 12 years of her life behind bars, officials said following her sentencing Wednesday.
“As alleged, Miles McNeal abused his power as an afterschool program teacher to sexually abuse an 8-year-old student. These alleged acts are despicable, and no student or parent should ever have to fear that they may face this abusive behavior at a school,” said District Attorney Bragg. “We believe that there may be additional survivors, and this remains an ongoing investigation. Please reach out to our Office if you believe your child may have been abused by Miles McNeal – our team has extensive experience and trauma-informed training to handle these investigations with the care and sensitivity they deserve.”
The district attorney’s office announced on Friday the return of two paintings to the people of Peru that were stolen from a Peruvian church in 2012 and trafficked into Manhattan.
“It does not matter whether an antiquity or painting was stolen ten years ago or ten thousand years ago – a stolen object is a stolen object,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This investigation makes clear that looting and trafficking is far from a thing of the past, and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to aggressively root out and dismantle these schemes.”
