Manhattan DA’s simultaneous implementations and calling for community’s assistance to curb hate crimes

Since the Covid pandemic, surging anti-Asian hate crimes have brought back the concept of hate crimes to the public’s view. In the past years, it has also become one of the primary crimes which law enforcement and prosecutors’ office such as the City Police and DA’s office targeted to combat. As circumstances changed incessantly, New York City had a budding wave of Anti-Migrant Hate Crimes beside Anti-Asian Hate Crimes. Regarding that, the Chief of Hate Crimes Unit at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Hannah Yu accepted an interview with Sing Tao; while she described the current status of hate crimes, she reiterated that combatting hate crimes requires a collective effort and the participation of all communities.
