D.A. Bragg Announces Sentencing Of Justin Soriano In Murder Of Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend In Harlem

“Justin Soriano will serve state prison time for viciously murdering Shanice Young on what should have been a joyous and memorable occasion and celebration,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Soriano committed this horrific shooting in front of four children, including Ms. Young’s own daughters, who helplessly watched their mother die right before their eyes. The trauma Ms. Young’s family and loved ones have experienced continues to be felt today and my thoughts remain with them as they continue to heal. I hope the significant sentence imposed today serves as a measure of justice for this tragic and abhorrent act of violence.”

D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment Of Alleged Check Forger Who Opened Bank Accounts Using Fake Passports From Four Different Countries

“As alleged, using aliases and forged passports supposedly issued by four different countries, Nfamoussa Sylla orchestrated a check fraud scheme that netted him more than $100,000,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This investigation is ongoing. This office’s strong tradition of economic crime investigations and prosecutions spans from identity theft to public corruption to counterterrorism and beyond. We will hold accountable those who commit fraud for personal gain.”

D.A. Bragg Announces Hate Crimes Indictment For Anti-Hispanic, Anti-LGBTQ+ Assault On Couple

“As alleged, Jamile Daniel viciously assaulted two men, who were out enjoying a walk together on a busy Midtown street,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This alleged conduct is repugnant and fueled by the defendant’s biases about the couple’s sexual orientation and heritage. New Yorkers of all backgrounds deserve to feel safe in Manhattan, and I wish the victims in this case a swift recovery.”

Man sentenced for 2 March 2024 shootings in Tompkins Square Park

“Waldemar Alverio is facing accountability for a pair of shootings in Tompkins Square Park that injured two and threatened the safety of many other bystanders. Parks must be safe havens for Manhattanites to gather and spend time with their friends and family, and nobody should have to worry they will be struck by a bullet in the middle of the day,” Bragg said in a statement. “Combatting gun violence remains my top priority, and we will continue to prosecute those who use illegal firearms while also making investments in our communities to address the root causes of shootings.”
