“The looting into ancient sites like Bubon were extensive, and I am pleased that our investigation has yielded such significant results. I thank the work of our prosecutors and analysts for their dedication to uncovering these trafficking networks that target ancient sites rich with cultural heritage,” said District Attorney Bragg.
“Monetary control, including predatory cycles of debt, is a common element of coercion used by sex traffickers,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, this wide-ranging operation recruited women who were seeking to come to the United States from Venezuela and demanded repayment through prostitution. Many of the women were trafficked when the ringleaders allegedly used coercion, including threats of violence, to force them to continue. Together with our partners in the NYPD/HSI Task Force, we are putting a stop to this predatory cycle and horrific abuse.”
Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg says “there’s an attraction” to ghost guns, and he’s seen a significant uptick in recent years. He explains to CBS News’ Anna Schecter how he’s working to create barriers to prevent them.
“Intimate partner violence is one of the most common charges in the borough of Manhattan, in the city of New York and nationwide,” said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
