“In the past two years we have successfully repatriated more than 20 antiquities to the people of Nepal, all of which have come from well-known trafficking networks that we continue to dismantle. We hope to hold additional ceremonies with our counterparts in Nepal in the coming months and years,” said District Attorney Bragg.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An employee at an Upper West Side senior living residence has been indicted on allegations that he stole more than $400,000 from elderly residents and the facility itself over a period of several years, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said.
“Orsen Reyes has been held accountable for a violent assault in which he slashed and repeatedly stomped on the victim – a vicious attack that could have ended in tragedy. Thanks to the NYPD, our prosecutors and the jury that carefully evaluated the evidence, Reyes has been brought to justice. This significant prison sentence reflects the severity of his conduct, and I hope it provides the victim with a measure of closure,” said District Attorney Bragg.
A former marketing executive with the CFA Institute has been sentenced to three to nine years in prison for a multimillion-dollar embezzlement scheme that defrauded the organization and another entity. Michael Collins had pleaded guilty to two counts of grand larceny in April.
“The defendant callously exploited his position in a senior living community to allegedly steal from nearly two dozen elderly New Yorkers,” said District Attorney Bragg. “One of the alleged victims was 92-years of age. Financial loss for older individuals can be absolutely devastating, and we will continue to use every tool available to address and prevent these types of pernicious schemes.”
