“We will continue to target antiquities trafficking networks no matter how complex. I thank our outstanding team of analysts and attorneys, along with our partners at HSI, for recovering and returning these beautiful pieces,” said District Attorney Bragg.

“Italy has been an epicenter of organized antiquities looting for decades, but we continue to undo the damage thanks to our incredible team of investigators, analysts, and prosecutors. I thank the Italian government for its continued extraordinary cooperation, and our colleagues at HSI for their partnership. During my tenure, I am proud to have returned more than 275 objects back to the people of Italy” said District Attorney Bragg.

“These pieces sat in apartments, storage units and museums when they should have been in Lebanon. As we have demonstrated time and time again, there is no trafficking scheme or network too complex for our Office. Stolen antiquities that come through Manhattan will be repatriated to their home country,” said District Attorney Bragg.

“We continue to undo the damage wrought by decades of well-organized antiquities smuggling networks throughout Italy. I am proud that we have successfully repatriated more than 200 antiquities to Italy since I took Office, but there is a lot more work to be done. We are going to continue to aggressively find, recover and return stolen artifacts from Italy in partnership with HSI, the Consul General’s Office and the Carabinieri,” said District Attorney Bragg.
