“Chester Taylor and Darius Hastings shot and killed a young Harlemite with great ambitions, talent and a bright future,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Although Pressie Taylor Jr. miraculously survived the shooting in its initial aftermath, his life was forever changed. He made a valiant attempt at resuming his life and music career, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the effects of his serious injuries, depriving his family and community of a promising star. Thanks to the jury’s careful review of the evidence, both defendants were found to be responsible for his murder, and I hope that the sentences imposed today bring the victim’s family some form of peace.” 

“As alleged, the defendants participated in a retaliatory shooting, killing an innocent bystander,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Mr. Girgis, a soon-to-be grandfather excited to share in a joyous time with his family, was taken away from them far too soon. The defendants also posed a significant threat to others in the community when, without any regard for innocent bystanders, they allegedly sprayed bullets out of a moving vehicle. Our office will pursue accountability against those who use guns to terrorize our streets.”

“Antjuan Smith’s actions were calculated and posed a threat to the victim’s children,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This is an extremely serious matter that has forever altered her life through the loss of eyesight. We will not allow guns to be used to terrorize innocent New Yorkers who are simply trying to go about their lives and care for their children.”

“Daryl Campbell used a firearm to target his rival, which led to loss of a life and serious injuries to innocent bystanders,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Gun violence cannot be used as a way to address conflict. The toll of guns continues to be staggeringly high and it is horrific that a night out at a concert ended tragically.” 

“As alleged, these defendants deliberately targeted a rival in an organized quest for vengeance, and now two families are mourning the loss of their loved ones,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This indictment once again shows how the easy availability of firearms continues to plague our communities. I thank our skilled prosecutors and our NYPD partners for their work to quickly identify the connection between these murders and put together this multi-faceted case.”
