“We have absolutely no tolerance for any conduct that harms police officers, and the charges in this indictment reflect the seriousness with which we are treating this incident,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I want to thank the members of the NYPD who put on their uniforms every day to selflessly protect New Yorkers. Their jobs are incredibly dangerous, and I hope the detective who was shot will continue to recover from his injuries. I thank him, and everyone else on the scene that day, for their bravery and commitment to keeping everyone safe.”

“Zymir Humphrey shot and killed Brandon Atkinson in a cruel and vicious act of gun violence,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Senseless cycles of retribution continue to fuel gun violence that destabilizes our communities and, far too often, results in the deaths of young New Yorkers. As Manhattan district attorney, tackling gun violence remains my top priority and we will continue working with our partners to trend the number of shootings and murders downward and remove dangerous, illegal firearms off our streets.”  

“Shaun McClam and Luis Roman have been held accountable for carrying out a coordinated and deadly act of violence that tragically cut short Timothy Parker’s life,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Today’s guilty pleas and promised prison sentences send a clear message that it is never acceptable to use illegal firearms to commit harm. Furthermore, NYCHA residents deserve to live without being terrorized by gun violence and criminal conduct, and we will continue to coordinate with law enforcement and local leaders to keep our communities safe.” 

“Waldemar Alverio was held accountable for committing two broad-daylight shootings in Tompkins Square Park, just days apart,” said District Attorney Bragg. “These senseless and reckless shootings left two victims significantly injured and put the safety of many New Yorkers at risk. Combatting gun violence is crucial to achieving lasting public safety and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to remove illegal firearms off our city’s streets and drive down shootings.” 

“A 14-year-old child lost his life due to this horrific act of gun violence,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Mr. Streeter was beloved not only by his family, but his entire community. He had a bright future ahead of him that was tragically taken away and his loved ones are continuing to grieve his loss. There is nothing we can do to undo the pain they are experiencing, but I hope this lengthy prison sentence allows them to move forward and end this difficult chapter.”
