“This incident is a horrific tragedy, and my heartfelt thoughts are with the loved ones of Mr. Walker and Mr. McLaurin. Mr. Walker was set to get married the next day and these families should have been celebrating that joyous occasion,” said District Attorney Bragg. “My office is continuing to investigate this incident, and I encourage anyone who was driving on the Henry Hudson Parkway that morning and saw a car driving the wrong way to call 212-335-9040.” 

“As alleged, Angel Melendez’s extremely reckless driving killed 51-year-old Nadjari Reid, a lifelong New Yorker, and injured a second pedestrian. My thoughts are with Mr. Reid’s loved ones as they continue to mourn his loss,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Dangerous drivers who recklessly endanger, harm, or kill pedestrians will be held accountable.” 

“Addressing vehicular violence is an essential part of ensuring comprehensive public safety. We will hold reckless drivers accountable for the harm they inflict on pedestrians, bikers and other motorists, and I hope the victims in this incident can continue to make a full recovery from their injuries,” said District Attorney Bragg. 

“As alleged, Daniel Hyden was driving while intoxicated when he plowed through a group of friends and family celebrating the Fourth of July in Corlears Hook Park. This alleged act tragically cut the lives of Lucille Pinkney, Herman Pinkney, Emily Ruiz, and Ana Morel short and severely injured seven others,” said District Attorney Bragg. “My thoughts are with the families of those whose lives were lost, the injured victims, and the tight-knit community, all of whom are reeling from the effects of this horrifying and senseless tragedy.” 

“Leandro Diaz-Ramirez’s reckless driving caused the tragic death of two pedestrians. Leandro Diaz-Ramirez appropriately received the maximum sentence for Manslaughter in the Second Degree, but nothing can bring back Joel Adames and David Fernandez, whose lives were cut short. We cannot allow this type of speeding to become normalized because of the grave consequences it has on public safety, and my Office will continue to hold accountable drivers who harm pedestrians,” said District Attorney Bragg.
