“Vehicular violence threatens the safety of New Yorkers who have the right to walk and bike without fear,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Mahbub Ali allegedly drove while intoxicated, killing a bicyclist and injuring multiple others as they were out on a summer Sunday. My thoughts are with the friends and family of the young man who lost his life, as well as the victims who continue to heal from their injuries.”

“Sharon Godwin allegedly plowed her stolen vehicle onto a crowded sidewalk and injured multiple pedestrians and children. Vehicular violence is a serious threat to the everyday safety of Manhattanites who are trying to walk, bike or drive as they go about their daily lives,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Everyone has a right to safe streets that are free from reckless and dangerous driving.”

D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment in Inwood Car Crash That Injured Approximately 20 People

“An 11-year-old has suffered life changing injuries as a result of this defendant’s alleged reckless behavior,” said District Attorney Bragg. “After crashing into another car and causing that car to plow through the front of a crowded restaurant, injuring about 20 people, he immediately fled the scene in an attempt to evade responsibility. We will continue to fully investigate incidents of serious traffic violence and hold irresponsible drivers accountable.”
