“William Smith brutally murdered Marcus Guerrerio, a 59-year-old disabled man, by entering his private room at the Bellevue Men’s Shelter and stabbing him repeatedly in his own bed. He struggled valiantly to protect his life, but he ultimately succumbed to the wounds,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Today, William Smith is facing accountability for his fatal actions. We will never tolerate this type of horrific violence and will always strive to achieve justice for victims and their loved ones.”

“As alleged, Samaria Lopez brutally stabbed and took the life of Jordin Walston – a doting and beloved young mother,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This alleged conduct has devastated Ms. Walston’s family and loved ones and my thoughts remain with them in their ongoing grief.” 

“As alleged, Steven Johnson attacked a restaurant employee just one day before slashing a pedestrian who was sitting in a plaza,” said District Attorney Bragg. “My thoughts are with the victims as they heal from their extensive injuries. Those who harm and threaten the safety of New Yorkers will be held accountable.”

“Today, a jury found Tyrese Haspil guilty of brutally murdering Fahim Saleh, his former mentor and boss, after stealing approximately $400,000 from him,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Tyrese Haspil tragically cut Mr. Saleh’s life short – a man who came from a close-knit immigrant family and followed his passions to become a successful entrepreneur. I hope the accountability delivered by today’s verdict can provide a measure of comfort to Mr. Saleh’s loved ones as they continue to mourn his loss. I thank our prosecutors for their diligent and thorough work in this case that led to this conviction.”

“As alleged, Ove Williams used a machete to slash a 32-year-old-man who was walking in Midtown. Pedestrians should feel safe when walking through the streets of New York, and my Office holds those accountable who harm others,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I hope the victim continues to recover from these extensive injuries.”
