“Today, Trevon Murphy is facing accountability for brutally murdering one unhoused individual and critically injuring two others. New Yorkers who face the painful and difficult experience of being unhoused shouldn’t have to simultaneously fear for their safety,” said Manhattan District Attorney Bragg. “While today’s sentence will not bring back an innocent life lost and cannot undo the pain two New Yorkers face, I hope it provides a sense of comfort and closure.”

“Anya Johnston callously took the life of her neighbor Susan Trott, a lifelong New Yorker with a kind-hearted, generous spirit,” said District Attorney Bragg. “To Ms. Trott’s family and loved ones, Johnston robbed them of a friend, mentor and business partner. Since her loss, they have experienced overwhelming emotional pain, and I hope today’s sentence can offer them a sense of justice knowing Johnston has been held accountable.”

“Kensly Alston and Halley Tejada allegedly murdered Nadia Vitels in her own apartment while she was moving in to start a new chapter of her life. I send my deepest condolences to her friends and family as they continue to mourn her loss,” said District Attorney Bragg. “My Office will secure justice for Nadia Vitels.”
