“As alleged, Kamel Hawkins shoved a stranger onto the tracks of an oncoming train in a brutal and unprovoked act of violence committed in our transit system on New Year’s Eve, a widely celebrated holiday in Manhattan and around the world,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Thankfully the victim, who sustained significant injuries, survived this horrifying attack and I wish him a swift recovery. D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment In Unprovoked Slashing Of Tourist On The Upper West Side

“Joshua Zinberg allegedly slashed an international tourist who was walking on the Upper West Side in an unprovoked and brazen daylight attack. When tourists visit New York, they should not have to fear for their safety,” said District Attorney Bragg. “We will continue to prosecute those who commit random acts of violence on the streets of Manhattan.
