Three Venezuelan migrants — including a baby-faced Tren de Aragua leader — brazenly peddled illegal pistols, shotguns, rifles and ghost guns across New York City, prosecutors alleged.
“Selling illegal weapons in Manhattan is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The scourge of gun violence takes a devastating toll on our communities, and I have met with far too many heartbroken families who have lost a loved one because of illegal firearms. While gun violence continues to trend downward in Manhattan, there is a lot more work to do, and we will continue to partner with the NYPD to hold people accountable who commit this type of dangerous conduct. I thank the investigators, prosecutors and detectives who worked collaboratively to get these weapons off our streets,” said District Attorney Bragg.
The suspect accused of a violent Midtown subway assault in which he allegedly stomped on a man’s head 20 times shouted an expletive in a Manhattan courtroom Tuesday when a judge ordered him held on high bail.
“As alleged, Orsen Reyes brutally attacked a 48-year-old man on the platform at the 50th Street subway station,” said District Attorney Bragg. “New Yorkers deserve to be safe in our subway system, and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to combat transit crime. I hope the victim continues to heal from this horrifying assault.”
Manhattan D.A. Bragg yesterday announced a guilty plea from the suspect arrested for two shootings in Tompkins Square Park in March 2024.
