“The night of October 10, 2020, ended in tragedy for Joseph Bernard Nunez-Perez and his loved ones. While we have made strides in driving down shootings and homicides, there are far too many families who continue to face the devastating impact of gun violence. I am thankful to our team of prosecutors who worked to achieve a strong measure of accountability in this matter, sending a clear message that gun violence will never be tolerated in Manhattan,” said District Attorney Bragg.

“Trevor Gibbs now stands convicted by a jury of his peers for viciously shooting and killing Hector Delgado, a fellow Manhattanite,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Gibbs coordinated this violent, deadly act of gun violence with the assistance of his associates as an act of retribution. My Office will continue to hold those accountable who jeopardize the safety of our communities with illegal firearms, and I thank the jury for their dedication and service.” 

“As alleged, Marc Haygood and Jayquan Straker planned a violent murder as they followed Mr. Osorio-Mejia into Manhattan, stealing jewelry off his body after fatally shooting him. Mr. Osorio-Mejia was a well-known sneaker seller, entrepreneur, and father whose life was cut short in this senseless tragedy,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I send my deepest condolences to Mr. Osorio-Mejia’s family and friends as they mourn his loss.” 

“As alleged, Angel Sardina and Rafael Macias coordinated a vicious and deadly shooting, which seriously injured one victim and tragically ended Fermin Brito’s life,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Our city’s parks should be safe spaces for all Manhattanites, and we will hold those accountable who endanger them with gun violence and illegal conduct. My thoughts are with Mr. Brito’s family as they continue grieving his loss and I wish the other victim a speedy recovery.”  

“As alleged, Mohamed Sawaneh committed a deadly, broad daylight shooting and committed multiple additional, serious crimes in the span of minutes,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This alleged, vicious conduct put several people at risk of being harmed and tragically took the life of Jeremy Cummings, a friendly sports lover. My thoughts are with Mr. Cummings’ family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
