D.A. Bragg Creates “Special Victims Division Advisory Council” To Gain External Stakeholders’ Perspectives On Office Practice

“We created the Special Victims Division Advisory Council to dig into what’s working, what isn’t working, and solicit feedback from external stakeholders on an ongoing basis,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Strengthening trust with community partners and reducing barriers to services for survivors lead to more reporting and increased participation in the criminal justice process. Through this ongoing collaboration, we hope to share resources, learn from each other, and continue to improve our practice. D.A. Bragg: Man Sentenced to 14 Years-To-Life in Prison For Nail Salon Sex Assaults

“David Gonzalez trailed a young woman through East Harlem for several blocks before following her into a nail salon and sexually assaulting her,” said District Attorney Bragg. “In the span of just two minutes, he attacked her, sexually assaulted another patron, and terrified everyone in that salon. Her fellow New Yorkers rallied around her and were able to chase him out of the store. I thank them all for their courage, and particularly the two survivors who bravely took the stand to testify at trial.”

D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment In Riverside Park Sex Assault, Robbery

“Particularly in the warm summer months, New Yorkers need to know they can safely use our city’s many beautiful waterfront parks,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This individual allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted a woman in Riverside Park, and then attempted to prevent her from calling 911 by stealing her cellphone. Despite that, this brave survivor was able to call with help from a passerby, and I thank the NYPD for its quick response.”
